01What we cover
We split construction technology into eight topics, each with what it is, where it is already used in Brazil, which standards apply and what to check before adopting it: BIM and digital design, jobsite automation, industrialised construction, equipment rental, real estate and construtechs, infrastructure, energy on site, and materials and waste. The topic pages are in Portuguese at Temas.
02Highlights
- BIM is now mandatory in part of Brazil's federal public works, phased in by Decree 10,306/2020 under the national BIM BR Strategy.
- The smart jobsite combines drones, telemetry, autonomous cameras and 5G; sector studies link jobsite digitalisation to project cost reductions of 5% to 30%.
- Industrialised construction (precast, off-site, modular, 3D printing) is the fastest route to a shorter, more predictable schedule.
03About this domain
Between 2019 and 2022 this domain hosted the website of Smart.Con, a construction technology trade event organised by Messe Muenchen do Brasil with support from Sobratema. The event was discontinued. Obra 4.0 is an independent editorial project with no connection to the organiser, to Sobratema or to the event. The full story is in Portuguese at A Smart.Con.
